Preventive Oncology & Screening

Preventive Oncology & Screening

Prevention and early detection are the most powerful tools in the fight against cancer. At PRS Hospital, Dr. Aswathy leads a dedicated Preventive Oncology & Screening program focused on empowering women through timely checkups, education, and lifestyle guidance.

With over 15 years of experience in gynecologic oncology, Dr. Aswathy emphasizes the importance of routine cancer screenings — especially for cervical, ovarian, endometrial, and vulvar cancers. She offers a range of advanced screening tools including Pap smears, HPV DNA testing, colposcopy, and transvaginal ultrasounds, tailored to each woman’s age, risk factors, and health profile.

For younger women, Dr. Aswathy strongly advocates HPV vaccination to protect against the most common cause of cervical cancer. She also educates patients and families on safe practices, menstrual hygiene, and early signs of gynecologic conditions — fostering a culture of awareness and self-care.

Dr. Aswathy’s screening programs extend beyond hospital boundaries. She actively conducts community-based camps across various Indian states, bringing preventive services to rural and underserved areas. These camps include cancer screening, counseling, and referral services, especially targeting women who may not otherwise have access to gynecologic care.

Women living with HIV and other immunocompromised conditions receive focused screening and surveillance under Dr. Aswathy’s guidance, given their higher risk of developing certain cancers. She ensures compassionate, nonjudgmental care that addresses their unique health concerns.

Beyond diagnostics, Dr. Aswathy also emphasizes lifestyle modifications, including nutrition, physical activity, weight management, and reproductive health choices that contribute to cancer prevention.

Through her proactive and compassionate approach, Dr. Aswathy helps women take control of their health before cancer ever becomes a concern. Her vision is clear — to create a healthier future where prevention is a priority and every woman has the tools to protect herself.
